HMI and Digital Human Modeling

Project Overview

Integrating human factors in the mechanical engineering and design process is often an under-represented or even entirely overlooked activity.  The boundaries of design can be pushed further by considering these early in the development process – avoiding costly mistakes and unfavourable end-user feedback.

  • New technologies allow truly predictive simulation of human behaviour in digital environments.
  • “Virtual bucks” are used to understand the implications of design choices early in project without the need for costly physical models.
  • Digital human models put human feel and performance feedback into the design loop.
  • Reduce iteration and mule builds while optimizing human-machine interface.
  • Simulation allows study of range of motion, muscle forces, comfort, reach, force and power, vision, and many more factors.
